Appliances can be a large stressful purchase that is often very costly so it’s only natural to want to look for sales. However, keep in mind that buying an appliance just because it is on sale now may not be the best long term decision.
The warranty period for appliances is very important to consider. Some companies will offer extended warranties for an additional fee but before purchasing additional warranties it is important to fully understand what you will and will not be covered for. It is also important to read reviews on the products to understand what the common complaints/ issues are and to have an understanding if they are covered or outside of warranty.
In most cases, the warranty will start when the appliances are delivered or purchased if you can take it with you from directly from the store. This can lead to an issue if you purchase an appliance in advance of when you actually will be using the product. Not only would you have to find a safe and climate controlled storage location, but the clock on your warranty has started before you have actually used it.
If you are buying only a few weeks or month in advance of when you plan to use the appliance, it may not be a big deal. But if you are looking to buy an item several months in advance, this may be something to consider.
