Building a house in Florida during the rainy/ hurricane season can be full of uncertainty. One of the biggest steps we were hoping to get in before the daily rain came was the foundation.
Our house will have concrete footers with a monolithic slab system. This basically means they are pouring a lot of concrete at once. Curing a foundation of our thickness can take upwards of 3+ days which can be extended by the rain.
We got very lucky last week and very little rain after the slab was poured followed by a fairly dry weekend. They really got it poured just in time as we are expecting some storms from a tropical storm.
Of course this weekend we had to go and check out the slab. We are standing on what will one day soon be our front entry!
